52 Years - Turning Point in Your Life

Among the Maya and many other indigenous peoples, the completion of your 52-year cycle is a special turning point. From then on you may call yourself "wise" or "elder. In the traditional Tzolk'in calendar, you receive a new energy, your destiny energy. Whether you use it is a choice you can make consciously between your 52nd and 78th years.

Taking your place

The time around your 52nd birthday is all about rebirth. You have completed your earthly path and begin the next round of 52 years: the path of beauty. With all the experience and wisdom you have gained, you begin a new cycle in your life. 

The Maya are very aware of their place in the generations. Their spiritual path is strongly connected to the past and focused on the future, their destiny and legacy. They honor their ancestors, draw strength from them, and feel supported by them. They are also aware of the impact their actions have on future generations.

Double Rebirth

Having your birthday on your birth sign and tone is a special experience. The time around my own 52nd birthday was magical. How I experienced my birthday in the Dreamspell and the classical Tzolkin calendar is described in 'Maya Wisdom for Your Life Path, the Tzolkin Profile Book' (in dutch).

I have also experienced the moment of rebirth live with others several times. In a workshop of several days with one of the participants and her friends we experienced her moment of birth on her 52nd birthday. We felt like midwives. She received the warm welcome she so desperately wanted to receive at her birth, but did not. We were moved to tears.

The year before we experienced a 52nd birthday in another group. After the congratulations and coffee and cake, we received a beautiful message from the "other side". A message about life, about humanity, and about what we cannot see but is present. The words came naturally. And they came in! You could hear a pin drop.

Change of Direction

The theme of rebirth plays out not only on the particular day around your birth time, but also in the period around that birthday and in the years that follow. Even if you know nothing about the calendar, there is a change of direction in your life around the age of 52. Just look around you. The change sometimes comes from within, but it can also come from without, or both.

The Tzolkin is a tremendous support for coming closer to yourself during this time. To allow the change and to consciously connect with the energy of your destiny after your 52nd birthday. This can also be done in the following years.
